Arcatia Floyd Duncan, 88, of Johnson City, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at her residence. She was a native of Bulls Gap (St. Clair), TN and the daughter of the late Cyrus and Nora Long Floyd. She was a graduate of Asbury College, Wilmore, KY and Peabody College of Vanderbilt University, and studied at ETSU. She taught school at Rogersville, Baileyton, Whitesburg high schools and retired from the Washington County school system after supervising the student teaching program at Milligan College. Arcatia was a member of Sinking Creek Baptist Church where she taught various Sunday school classes. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Fred Duncan, and a brother, Rev. Frank Floyd. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Wilma Wall Floyd, Morristown; nieces, Linda Henderson, Kodak, Sara Hodge, Morristown, and Virginia LaRue, Knoxville; great nieces and nephews, Scottie and Robbie Carpenter, Page Maples, and Leigh Ann Allen; and a host of cousins. A graveside and committal service for Arcatia Floyd Duncan will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Todd Wolfe, Minister officiating.
