Clint Perkins, Jr., 84, Johnson City, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2014 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Johnson County, he was a son of the late Clint Perkins, Sr and Pearl Atwood Perkins. He had lived in Carter County since 1948. He attended Watauga Academy, Elizabethton Business College, Northeast State Community College, and East Tennessee State College. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Perkins retired as a Supervisor at North American Rayon Corporation after 45 years of service. Mr. Perkins was a member, Deacon and Trustee at Powder Branch Baptist Church. He was a member of Dashiell Masonic Lodge # 238, a 50 year member, he was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a member of Jericho Temple, Kingsport.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years: Coleen Arnold Perkins. Two Sons & Daughters-in-Law; Troy and Cindy Perkins, Atlanta, Georgia and Steve & Nancy Perkins, Elizabethton. Three Grandchildren: Meagan Lammers and husband Kevin and Margo Perkins, all of Atlanta, Georgia and Alex Perkins and wife Tara, South Bend, Indiana. A Step-Son: Rev. Adam Polk and wife Jennifer, Hollywood, Maryland. Six Great Grandchildren. One Brother: Rev. John Perkins and wife Gail, Johnson City. One Sister: Peggy Emmert and husband Kenneth, Johnson City.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Art Webb and Rev. Gene Cornett officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 22, 2014 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by his daughter-in-law: Nancy Perkins. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 12:20 p.m. Saturday will be: Jimmy Cole, Dayton Pate, Lee Hubbard, Kenneth Emmert, R.V. Arnold, John Whitson, Ora Hyder and David Hyder. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Lynn Rash and his church family. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the Staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family and his residence.
