Mr. Paul R. Reed, 86, of San Jose, CA, formerly of Johnson City and Elizabethton, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2015 in the Regional Medical Center, San Jose, CA, following a brief illness. H was the son of the late Reverend O.R. and Arvella Lowe Reed and was born in Washington County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Reed.
Mr. Reed was retired from the Eastside Union High School District (California) where he was the Custodial Maintenance Supervisor. He was a man who loved to travel, garden, support the Boston Celtics and was an avid fan of the University of Tennessee Vols. He was of the Church of God Faith.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Sue Malone Reed, of the home; a sister, Alma Lee Reed Hughes and her husband, Bob L. Hughes, Watauga; a nephew Dr. David J. Reed and his wife, Janet, Springfield, TN; and a close niece Elizabeth Reynolds, Fort Lauderdale, FL. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service for Mr. Reed will be conducted on Monday, June 1, 2015 at Noon at the Mausoleum Chapel of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Dr. David J. Reed officiating. Interment will follow the service.
