Sammy Ford, age 66, of Hampton, passed away on Monday, July 30, 2018 at his residence, following an extended illness. Sammy was born in Carter County to the late John Wesley Ford and Cora Atkins Ford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Danzel Ford, Terry Ford and John Wesley Ford, Jr.; and one sister, Barbara Buchanan.
Sammy worked as a carpenter and he loved to play jokes and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Betty Rose Hinkle Ford, of the home; two brothers, Jerry Ford and wife Ginger and Guy Ford and wife Sue; a sister, Sylvia Lewis; a niece, Della Sue Proffitt; and a nephew, Johnny Proffitt.
A service to honor the life of Sammy Ford will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 3, 2018 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Friday.
The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Ford and Mike Turner.
