Selma Bernice Hyder Roberts, 96, Kingsport passed away Friday, May 6, 2022 in the NHC Health Care, Johnson City. She was born September 7, 1925 in Elizabethton to the late Frank & Bessie Grindstaff Hyder. She was a 1945 graduate of Elizabethton High School. Mrs. Roberts loved working in her flowers and garden and loved to read. She attended Beulah Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Byrl Roberts, September 27, 1998, by two brothers: Buddy & Fred Hyder and a sister: Hannah Jones.
Survivors include one son: Lester B. Roberts II & wife Kay of Gray. One Grandson: Lester B. Roberts III & wife Quana, Roan Mountain. One Granddaughter: Leslie Roberts Bishop, Jonesborough, Two Great Grandsons: Zeb Roberts and Caleb Bishop. One Great Granddaughter: Polly Roberts. Several nieces & nephews.
Graveside Service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2022 in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Al South officiating. Active Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 2:20 p.m. Monday to go in procession to the cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
