Scott Campbell, 43, of Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at his residence following an extended illness. He fought a good fight and he loved his family and friends.
Scott was a native of Carter County. He was a photographer with Coleman’s Studio for a number of years. He was a member of Hunter United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Carolyn Snodgrass Campbell, March 18, 2006.
Survivors include his wife, Kimberly Thorne Campbell; his children, Jayden Sky Campbell, Brandon Scott Campbell and his fiancée, Jessica Rosalee Baird, and Scott’s future grandson, Jackson Scott Campbell, Jared Campbell and Carson Ray Campbell, all of Elizabethton; three sisters, Renee Wilson and her fiancé, Kirk Allen, Piney Flats, Missy Greene and husband Ray, Elizabethton, and Julie Louise Pressley, Knoxville; his father, John Raymond Campbell and wife, Pat, Blountville; two brothers, Jon Lind Campbell, Corpus Christi, Texas, and Gene Thorne, Dryden, Va. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Campbell will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, January 2, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Estel Williams and the Rev. Mike Barry officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, January 3, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:50 p.m. Friday, will be Brandon Campbell, Jared Campbell, Thomas Hardin, Jimmy Hughes, Jon Campbell and Kirk Allen. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Greene, Gene Thorne, John Raymond Campbell, Kyler Wilson and Dwight Hughes. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Mountain States Hospice, Dr. Kim Pratt and Dr. K. Krishnan and the staff at Regional Cancer Center, the 4200 and 4300 staff of Johnson City Medical Center and the congregation of Hunter United Methodist Church for all the support. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence.
