Agnes Bateman Shatley, 99, of Gray, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Dominion Senior Living. She was a native of Carter County and daughter of the late Martin and Kate Bullock Bateman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul R. Shatley, three brothers, two sisters, and son-in-law, John W. Bealle.
Agnes was very active, when she was able, with the ladies quilting group at Boones Creek Christian Church which met every Tuesday.
Those family members left to cherish Agnes’ memory include her daughters: Nancy S. Bealle, Jessie L. Milhorn and her husband James Darryle Milhorn, Paula S. Williams and her husband Allen C. Williams, Jr.; grandchildren: David P. Bealle (Amy), Becky S. Starr (Keith), James D. Milhorn, II (Britta), Amy L. Smith (Al), Allen C. Williams, III, Ella Kate Meyers (Louis), Julie W. Dalby (Christopher); twelve great-grandchildren and two on the way, several nieces nephews, cousins and many friends.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to the entire staff at Dominion Senior Living for the loving care provided to Agnes “Agie” during her stay there.
The family will greet friends to share memories at 5:00 pm on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Boones Creek Christian Church, Johnson City, TN followed by a Celebration of Agnes’ Life at 7:00 pm with Mr. Dick Morris, Minister officiating. A Graveside and Committal Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday at Happy Valley Memorial Park, Elizabethton, TN. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 am.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org or to the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 22478 Oklahoma City, OK 73122.
