Alpha Joines Tester, 86, Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, July28, 2015 in the Hermitage Health Center following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late B.A. & Effie Crawford Joines. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Tester was a member of the Happy Valley Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Wade Tester, a daughter: Connie Tester, four brothers: Norman, Elmo, and B.A. Jr. and John Haden Joines.
Survivors include her sons: Terry Tester and wife Karen, Elizabethton and Ronnie Tester and wife Bandy, Erwin. One daughter: Janie Tester, Elizabethton. Five Grandchildren: Robert Tester and wife Sheilan, Misty Tester, Angela Tester Smith and husband Marty, Terri Tester and Jessica Houston and husband Tim. Four Great Grandchildren: Shelbie Tester, Sophie Tester, Bentley Smith and Kate Smith. Two Sisters: Omega Collins and Beatrice Tester. Several nieces & nephews.
Graveside Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2015 in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Dr. James Richardson officiating. Burial will follow the service. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Tester to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, South Carolina 29605-4255. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the employees of Hermitage Health Care and to Dr. Robert Walter for the excellent care that they gave Mrs. Tester.
