Ambie Bexter “A.B.” McKenzie, Jr., 71, Johnson City, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014, in the Franklin Woods Hospital.
A native of Kingstree, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Ambie Bexter McKenzie Sr. and Jacqueline Moore McKenzie. He had lived in East Tennessee for the past 47 years.
He was a graduate of J.P. Truluck High School in Lake City, South Carolina; he attended Clemson College and graduated from Columbia Commercial College. A.B. served in the United States Army Reserve. He was retired from NFS as a Computer Trouble Shooter. He was a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
He loved to restore old cars, go to yard sales and loved history.
Survivors include his wife: Sharon Buchanan McKenzie; A Brother: Stephen Michael McKenzie, Batesburg, South Carolina; His Sisters: Diana M. Dickson, Columbia, South Carolina, and Amanda M. Griffin, Beaufort, South Carolina; One Aunt: Faye M. McKissick, Columbia, South Carolina. Several nieces, nephews and great nieces & nephews and cousins. His father & mother-in-law: Hershel & Geraldine Buchanan, Johnson City; Sister-in-law: Shelby Shoun and husband, Eddie; Sister-in-law: Whitney Bowling and husband, Chris; and super amazing niece, Darcie Dosher; and special nephews: Corey and Jeremy Shoun.
Graveside Service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2014, in Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Bill McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow the service.
The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the Staff of Franklin Woods Hospital and the Staff of Mountain States Hospice.
