Archie “Jack” Taylor, age 81, of Elizabethton, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Jack was born in Carter County, Tennessee to the late General Jackson Taylor and Goldie Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine Grindstaff; his second wife, Roma J. Taylor; two grandchildren, Jackson Johnston and Taylor Blevins; his siblings, Willie Taylor Garland, Lena Gregory, Loretta Markland, Lois Jean McClure, Laurie Campbell, Brooks Taylor, Cephus Taylor, Coy Taylor and Sterling Taylor; two half-sisters, Ruth Estep and Chelsea Taylor; and three half-brothers, Roy Taylor, Anderson Taylor and John Taylor.

Jack was a 1957 graduate of Unaka High School and was a member of Moore’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. He retired from Baxter Pharmaseal after 38 years of service. Jack enjoyed time with family and friends and grandkids, listening to music, country drives, gardening and watching the Braves.

Those left to cherish his memory include three daughters, Tammy Blevins, of Gray, TN, Maria Gwin and husband Joshua, also of Gray, TN and Jackee Johnston and husband Jason, of Johnson City, TN; one son, Gary Taylor and wife Regina, of Charleston, SC; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one brother, Freeman Taylor, of Elizabethton.

A graveside service to honor the life of Archie “Jack” Taylor will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Clarence Phillips and Pastor Ben Cole, officiating. Music will be provided by Angela Bowman and Melissa Woods. Jack’s nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 AM on Wednesday.

Following the graveside service the family will receive friends at the home of a daughter, Jackee Johnston. Those wishing to sign the register book are invited to visit Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM.

Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, may make donations to the Sycamore Springs Activity Fund, 1504 W. Elk Avenue, Elizabethton, TN 37643.

The family would like to especially thank the staff of Sycamore Springs Retirement Community, Johnson City Internal Medicine, Dr. Williams and nurse, Loren for the exceptional care and love shown to Jack during his illness.
