Mr. Arnold Clark, 83, of Hampton, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness.
He was the son of the late Henry and Belle Norris Clark and was born in Carter County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Ethel and Thad Ingram.
Mr. Clark was a veteran of the United States Army. He loved to play the guitar and was an avid NASCAR fan. He was a member of Union Baptist Church and was retired from Inland Container following forty years of service.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Elsie Grindstaff Clark, of the home; a sister-in-law Eldona Norris and her husband, J.L. of Hampton; two brothers-in-law, Bud Grindstaff and his wife, Mary Lou, Hampton; Kyle Grindstaff, Flint, MI; special niece and helper, Letha Gwyn, Hampton; special friends, Jack Ingram, Hampton; and Bobby Miller, Gray. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.
The comfort and honor of your presence is requested at the funeral service for Mr. Clark to be conducted on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 8:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Danny Bright officiating. Music will be under the direction of Lisa James, Shelecia Grindstaff and Amy Banner. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday prior to the service and at the home at other times.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 1:00 PM in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Robbie Norris, Mark Grindstaff, Jimmy Blackburn, Mac Stricklin, Jack Ingram, Gary Singelton, Bobby Miller and Caleb James. Honorary pallbearers will be Albert Proffitt, Fred McNeil, Bud Grindstaff, Keith Elliott, J.L. Norris, all his friends at Lon and Teresa’s Grill and his friends at Union Baptist Church. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:15 PM on Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
