Billy Joe Clark, age 85, of Johnson City, went home to be with his Lord Sunday morning, December 22, 2019, in the Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, Knoxville, TN.
Bill was born September 29, 1934 in Elizabethton, TN. He was the son of the late William and Juanita Clark. Following his graduation from East Tennessee State College; he served in the United States Army then spent his life working in and eventually owning and operating Clark Lumber. He was known by his family and friends as a good, family oriented, man who loved his God, his family, and his flag. He was a dedicated member of the Watauga Point Methodist Church where he held many positions throughout the years and a 50 year member of the Watauga Masonic Lodge 622 and past Master. Bill was also very active in youth sports in the Happy Valley community and was known as proud New York Yankees fan.
In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his sister, Lucille Simmons.
Those left to cherish his memory include; his loving wife of 58 Years, Doris Smith Clark; two sons, Rondal Clark of Johnson City, Eddie Clark of Newnan GA; his grandchildren, Trevor Clark of Mountain City, Tayla Clark of Asheville, Alton Clark of Johnson City, Colby Clark of Newnan, GA, and Palara Clark of Newnan GA; his sisters, Betty Slemp (John) of Elizabethton, Brenda Lynch (Ted) of Jonesboro; his brother, Truman Clark (Phyllis) of Piney Flats; several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to celebrate and honor the life of Billy Joe Clark will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday, December 26, 2019 in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Mike Berry and Pastor Leann “Lou” Crandall officiating.
The family requests donations in memory of Billy Joe Clark be made to the Watauga Point memorial fund at 409 Gap Creek Rd, Elizabethton, TN 37643 or to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children at 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, FL 33607.
