Mrs. Bonnie Brumit, 93, Elizabethton went home to be with her Lord, Saturday, January 11, 2014 in the Ivy Hall Nursing Home. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Donnelly David & Lucy Glover Williams. Mrs. Brumit formerly worked at Harrison’s Shoe Store and as an LPN for Dr. E.T. Pearson and at the Carter County Memorial Hospital. She was the oldest member of West Side Christian Church where she stayed very active as long as her health permitted. She had served as a Sunday School Teacher, a strong supporter of missions, and for several years had many small group studies in her home. Mrs. Brumit enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Samuel A. Brumit, June 24, 2005, by a daughter: Barbara Calloway Gentry, a sister: Helen Parris and two brothers: Bill & Robert Williams. Survivors include a daughter: Dr. Kay Landry and her husband Ron, Austin, Texas. Two Sons: Sam Brumit, and wife Judy, San Marcos, California and Kenneth Calloway and wife Nancy, Elizabethton. Eight Grandchildren: Kenny Gentry, Kim Edwards, Karen Sandoval, Clint Mays, David Brumit, Jennifer Recknagel, Jonathan Brumit and Jeffrey Brumit, 15 Great Grandchildren and One Great Great Grandchild. One Niece, Three Nephews and One Uncle Albert Williams. A Service to Celebrate the life of Bonnie Brumit will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2014 in the West Side Christian Church “the church that was very dear to her heart” with Dr. Greg Key officiating. The Eulogy will be given by her son Sam Brumit. Entombment Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 16, 2014 in the Mausoleum of Peace, Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by the West Side Church Choir, Sandy White, Organist and Glenda Stair, Pianist. Active Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Dr. Jonathan Bremer, whom I loved dearly, Luther McKeehan and the West Side Christian Church family, Judy Deloach and the Staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home and her care givers: Sharon Shouse, Mary Ann Shell, Betty Sammons, Juanita Ellison, and Carolyn Blevins. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Brumit to the Faith Promise Missions c/o West Side Christian Church, 1307 West G Street, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37643. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the West Side Christian Church.
