Mrs. Bonnie Hamilton, age 93, of Johnson City, TN went home to be with her Lord with her family surrounding her Friday, March 10, 2017 in Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Johnson County, TN she was the daughter of the late Calvin and Lilly Gibson Byers. Mrs. Hamilton was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and family dinners, crafts include quilt making, yard sales, gardening and yard work. She loved decorating for and the meaning of Christmas. Mrs. Hamilton was a member of Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hamilton; two sons, Charles Hamilton and Ray Hamilton and a granddaughter, Tammy Taylor. Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Linda Carper and husband Patrick, Johnson City and Kathy Rhea and husband Alvin, Elizabethton; a daughter-in-law, Lelia Hamilton, Johnson City and four grandchildren, Leslie Hulls and husband Danny, Lestho, Africa; Lori Rost and husband J.R., Elizabethton; Jennifer Carper, Johnson City and Spencer Rhea, Elizabethton. Several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor the life of Mrs. Bonnie Hamilton will be conducted at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 14, 2017 in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Doug Hartley officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 – 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday prior to the funeral service or at the residence at any time.
Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 15, 2017 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Alvin Rhea, Patrick Carper, Spencer Rhea, Kristopher Karako, Terry Rash and J. R. Rost. Honorary pallbearer will be Gary Holtsclaw. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 1:45 P.M. on Wednesday. The family would like to express special thanks to a caregiver, Donna Smith and Ben Stout of Hermitage Health Care Center.
