Bruce served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a tank driver with Company B-10th Tank Battalion – 5th Armored Division. He was wounded in Belgium in 1943, surviving to come home to his family, honorably discharged for his service to his country. He loved to play his guitar and sing gospel songs.
