Bruce Radford, 72, Elizabethton passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, November 4, 2015 in the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Curtis & Vorita Cates Radford. Bruce was a 1961 graduate of Happy Valley High School. He operated Radford Construction Company for several years. Bruce had a love of flying and had his pilot license for several years. He loved hunting, antique cars and small engines. He was a member of the Happy Valley Booster Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Jere Sue Radford. Bruce was a member of the Upper Gap Creek Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include his children: Penny Radford, Sherri & Scottie Hyder, Scotty & Hilary Radford and Michelle Radford. His Grandchildren: Toni King, Katie Hyder, Ria Hyder and Renee Radford. His Great Grandchildren: Aiden, Brodie and Kayleigh. A sister: Zelma & Harold Campbell, Elizabethton. A brother: Ronnie and Glenda Radford.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dale Blevins and Rev. Shane Waters officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 8, 2015 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by the Upper Gap Creek Free Will Baptist Church. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:15 p.m. Sunday will be: Mike McKinney, Jackie Roberts, Tony Greene, Larry Brown, Carl Roberts, Shane Gouge, Phillip Ellis, Mike Ward and Jerry Radford. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Bill Sluder, Randy Radford, Tim Lamb, Estel Whitehead, Ray Lewis, David Johnson, Ray Pritt, Harry White, Jim Murray, Kemp Peak, Mike Hensley and many other good friends. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at his residence 4 to 7 p.m. Friday.
