Catherine (Granny) King McQueen Leamon, passed on Saturday, July 6, 2019 in the comfort of her own home, following a willful and brave fight against illnesses. She was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Irene Shaw King. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Veronica “Ronnie” King and Mary Catherine King; a brother, Thomas King; and her only grandchild and love of her life, Jeremy David King. Also, by her first husband, J.D. McQueen and her second husband, Shannon Leamon.

Catherine was retired from Inland Container and spent her years camping, traveling, watching Cyclone Football, cooking for her family and doting on Jeremy.

She leaves behind her granddaughter, by love, Nikki Stout-Cable (husband Dustin Cable) who was privileged to be chosen by Granny to care for her and spend Granny’s life holding her hand and being her caregiver until she made her way home to be with Jeremy. She also had two great grandchildren by love, Nikki’s children, Cruz Everette and Lolablu Graci, both whom she adored and was so very proud.

She is also survived by a son, Tim King; one brother, Michael King and wife Delores; and several nieces and nephews.

Also, to mention are her special friends, Jean Collins, Tammie Dugger, who was like a daughter to her, and Tammie’s daughter Cheyenne, who Granny thought of as a granddaughter. She also leaves her faithful-to-the-end fur baby behind, to be with Tammie and Cheyenne, just like Granny wanted.
Catherine always loved having Jeremy’s friends spend time at her home through the years. She had much love for special friends, Michael Morrell and Jay Crockett and their families and had an abundance of long-time buddies.

A funeral mass will be conducted to honor Catherine (Granny) King McQueen Leamon on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Elizabethton, Tennessee with Father Dennis Kress, officiating.

The committal and entombment will follow at the Mausoleum of Hope at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers and special men to Catherine will be Dustin Cable and son Cruz, Everette Stout, Rob Stout, Jarrod Ellis, Michael Morrell and Jay Crockett.

A special and sincere thank you to her loving, private care-giving friends, Rosemary Clabo, Tammie Dugger, Susie Lyle, Carol Roberts, Marcella Widner and Makinnzie Shaffer and Karen Freeman for helping Nikki with Granny, endlessly, as well as Amedysis Hospice nurses, Wilma Goldsberry, Megan Renfro and Michelle Leatherwood.

A mention of special neighbors, Jeff and Tonya Jeffers and Roxann Smith and her grandson, Bryson, who checked on Granny regularly.
