Cathy Mae Stone Barnaby, age 64, of Elizabethton passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Cathy was born in Greenville, South Carolina to the late Alvin and Ida Mae Howell Stone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Stephen Joseph Barnaby in May 2014; a daughter, Samantha Barnaby in November 2013; a brother, Alvin Stone, Jr.; and a sister, Patricia Stone.
Cathy was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was currently a student at East Tennessee State University and was also a member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Elizabethton. Cathy loved quilting, reading, her dogs and most especially being a grandmother.
Those left to cherish her memory include four children, William Barnaby and wife Lisa, of Paso Robles, CA, Randy Barnaby and wife Melissa, of Georgetown, TX, Kimberly Barnaby Allen and husband Christopher, of Rolling Hills Estates, CA and Stephen Barnaby, II, of San Antonio, TX; ten grandchildren, Collin, Jordan, Joshua, Ryah, Abigail, Cooper, Carter, Erin, Cecilia and Levi; three sisters, Linda Jones, Shelia Bible and Jackie Willis. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral mass for Cathy Mae Stone Barnaby will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 23, 2018 in the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Father Dennis Kress, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton.
The graveside will follow the mass service on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Kenneth Perry will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
