Charles Jon “Chuck” Kachelries, 61, Johnson City (A.k.a radio personality “Chuck Johnson”) passed away Saturday, July 18, 2015 at his residence after an extended illness with his wife, Mary at his side. Born in Warren, Ohio on February 10, 1954 to the late John E. & Wilma Comer Kachelries. He had lived in East Tennessee for the past 19 years. Chuck begins his career in broadcasting at age 14. He worked for many years in radio in several states, the last ones being WXBQ, WQUT and WKOS. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his wife of 19 years: Mary Burgess Kachelries. Two Daughters: Mrs. James (Rebecca) Oliver, Jenkins, Kentucky and Mrs. Alton (Kimberly) Fleming of Millstone, Kentucky. Five Grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2015 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Mary would like to thank all the Doctors & nurses at Sycamore Shoals Hospital and the special nurses of Mountain States Hospice and his medical care Dr. Kenneth Hopland.
