Charles McQueen, age 87, of Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 from the Johnson City Medical Center. Charles was born in Elizabethton to the late Lee Harvey McQueen and Deborah Smith McQueen. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers.

Charles had worked as a factory worker at Tri-State Container for 32 years and was a United States National Guard veteran, having served in the Korean Era. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Elizabethton and attended Elizabethton City Council and Elizabethton Parks and Recreation meetings for the past 20 years. He loved to fish.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 64 years, Virginia Guy McQueen, of the home; a son, Terry McQueen, of Elizabethton; and two brothers, Ivan McQueen and wife Jean and George McQueen and wife Louise, all of Elizabethton.

A service to honor the life of Mr. Charles McQueen will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton with Rev. Nathan Jennings and Rev. Jack Lloyd, officiating. Music will be under the direction of the First Freewill Baptist Church, Mr. and Mrs. Grady Holder and Joann Campbell. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Friday; or at the residence at any time.

The graveside service will be conducted at 12:30 PM on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Glenn McQueen, David McQueen, Jim McQueen, Albert Teller, Steve McQueen, Randy McQueen, Danny McQueen, and Edd Townsend. Honorary pallbearers will be Members of The Elizabethton City Council, Kyle McQueen, Sam McQueen, Phil McQueen, Gary Lady and Bobby Jack Lady. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton at 11:30 AM on Saturday to go in procession.

Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, may make donations to First Freewill Baptist Church of Elizabethton/ Building Fund, 706 First Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643 in memory of Charles.
