Cheryl Simerly Godfrey, age 57, of Elizabethton, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Cheryl was born on September 3, 1960 in Elizabethton, Tennessee to Laura Simerly Mills, of Elizabethton and the late Ralph H. Simerly. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Rick Simerly in 2014.
Cheryl had served as the Vice President of Suntrust Bank in Johnson City for 5 years, where she was highly respected by her staff and clients.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 20 years, Bryan Godfrey, of Elizabethton; her mother and step father, Laura and Wilburn Mills, of Elizabethton; her mother-in-law, Betty Crain, of Johnson City; and her special friends, Sherron Lane, of Pawley’s Island, SC, Patty Jo Williams and Jonie Davis, both of Johnson City.
A service to celebrate the life of Cheryl Simerly Godfrey will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Sunday, February 11, 2018 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Pastor Ken Hauser, officiating. Music will be provided by Rick Sweeney, soloist. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Sunday. Friends may also call at the residence of her mother or Bryan Godfrey.
The graveside service will immediately follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
