Chrystal Effie Grindstaff Hicks, 93, Elizabethton passed away Friday, May 10, 2019 at her residence after an extended illness.  A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Alf & Etta Pierce Grindstaff.  She was employed at Elizabethton Steam Laundry for several years and retired from the Laundry Department, Sycamore Shoals Hospital.  She was of the Baptist Faith.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Lewis G. Hicks, February 13, 2000, by two sisters: Darlene Hampton and Ruby Hicks and two brothers: Art & Howard Grindstaff.  She loved to quilt, crochet and cross stitching.

Survivors include a son & daughter-in-law: Ronnie & Sherry Hicks,  Two Grandchildren: Joshua Lewis Hicks and Abigail LeAnna Brace & husband Matthew.  Five Great Grandchildren: Mikeala Chrystal Hicks, Aldyn Hicks, Isabella Hicks, Harper Rose Hicks and Max Justin Lewis Brace.  Two Sisters: Cleta Mae Kyte and Pat Guinn.  Two Brothers: Dean Grindstaff & wife Floy and Glen Grindstaff.  A sister-in-law: Margaret Grindstaff.  Several nieces & nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. David Siebenaler, Minister officiating.  Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2019 in Happy Valley Memorial Park.  Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Monday will be: Josh Hicks, Matthew Brace, Bryan Bradshaw, Josh Brooks, Ryan Bowers and Adam Ellison.  Honorary Pallbearers will be: Dean & Glen Grindstaff, Todd Hampton, Jimmy Carr and Steve Hicks.  The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Amedisys Home Health & Hospice and the staff of Rehab, Hillview Health Center.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.  Friends may also visit with the family at her residence.  Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Monday to go to the cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in memory of Mrs Hicks to theCystic Febrosis Foundation (ff.org)or Project Purple.org for pancreatic cancer.    Condolences may be sent to the family at our web-site www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
