Crystal M. Isaacs, 98, of Johnson City, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Hermitage Health Care Center in Elizabethton.
She was born October 13, 1917, in Johnson County to the late Charles Monroe and Flossie Artensia “Arrie” Dugger McCloud. She was predeceased by her husband, James Clell Isaacs, daughter Mary Frances Webb, son John Charles Isaacs, brothers Ellis B. and George McCloud and sister Maxine McQueen.
Crystal graduated from Watauga Academy and attended East Tennessee State College. She taught for several years in a one-room school that is now under the Watauga Lake. She then moved to the Baltimore, MD area where she was well-known for her ability to work with people as an Avon sales representative for nearly 40 years and as an avid flower gardener. She returned to Tennessee where she was voracious reader in her later years. Visitors were often entertained by her sharp wit and humor. She was a member of University Parkway Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Dr. Margaret Hougland; grandchildren Amy (Walt) Floyd of Fair Oaks, CA, Jon Hougland of San Luis Obispo, CA, and Kriss Hougland of Warner Robins, GA; great-grandchildren Matthew and Lindsay of CA; brother Thomas (Mabry) McCloud of Chamberburg, PA; several nieces and nephews; and special friends Collene and Dean Hicks.
The family would like to thank Caris Hospice Care for their service and compassion.
A memorial service and visitation will be held at Tetrick Funeral and Cremation Services, 3001 Peoples St., Johnson City, TN on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 3:00 p.m.
