Miss Me but Let Me Go
When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me. I want no rites in a gloom-filled room. Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love we once shared–Miss me, but let me go. For this is a journey we all must take and each must go alone. It’s all a part of the Maker’s plan, a step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick at heart go to the friends we know and bury your sorrows in doing good deeds–Miss me, but let me go.

Cynthia May Burton Pierce, age 65, of Elizabethton, passed away on July 17, 2016 at her residence. Cynthia was born in New Vienna, Ohio to the late Hugh Burton and Sarah Alice Shinkle Burton Palmer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several siblings and one granddaughter, Madison Laura Blevins on January 21, 2004.

Cynthia retired as an LPN in private duty care. She was of the Christian faith and enjoyed crafts, decorating and flowers. She had been decorating a room for her granddaughter, but didn’t get to finish it.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 44 years, Raymond Pierce, of the home; three children, Cathy Pierce, of Elizabethton, Shannon Pierce, of Johnson City, and Misty Pierce Blevins, of Elizabethton; and six grandchildren. Several siblings and cousins also survive.

A private entombment service will be held in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park.
