Dan Akers, age 80, of Hampton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 20, 2020 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Dan was born in Annapolis, Maryland to the late Daniel Lloyd Akers and Naomi Andreson Akers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by and infant son, Danny Akers;a grandson, Jason Treece; and a sister, Beatrice Sherbondy.

Dan was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and a devout Christian. He had worked as a hardware manager and was a member of Hampton Christian Church, where taught Sunday School and worked in the Children’s Ministry. Dan was a history buff and enjoyed all types of music.

Those left to cherish Dan’s wonderful memory include his loving wife, Wanda Akers, of the home; his daughter, Susie (Ronnie) Munsey, of Knoxville; his son, Scott Colby Akers, of Virginia; two grandchildren, Kimberly Poore (Andrew) and Kamaryn Collins; and three great grandchildren, Avery Grace Poore, Olivia Reese Poore and Eden Kate Poore. Also surviving are his fur babies, Polly Anna, Ringo and Sunny.

A graveside service to celebrate the life of Dan Akers will be conducted at 1:30 PM on Monday, March 23, 2020 at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Dwayne Calhoun, minister, officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Dan’s church family at Hampton Christian Church. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:20 PM on Monday.
