Debbie Hurley Hilton, 60, 309 Pleasant Court, Johnson City passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016 at her residence. She was a native of Johnson City and was a daughter of Geraldine Edwards Floyd of Piney Flats and the late Harry Mark Hurley. Debbie was a member of the Piney Flats Freewill Baptist Church. She was beautician and had worked at Hair Dooz of Boones Creek before her illness. In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Fred Hurley and Ida Estep Hurley Campbell; her maternal grandparents, W.O. Edwards and Mary Tilson Edwards; two sisters, Wanda Floyd Tate and Robin Hurley Martin; also her step-father, Bill Floyd.

 

Survivors include the love of her life, Bobby Self of Johnson City; her mother, Geraldine Edwards Floyd of Piney Flats; a daughter, Tammera Hilton Penix and husband, Steve; a son, Shannon Hilton and wife, April all of Piney Flats; six grandchildren, Josh Burton, Ashton Hilton, Stephanie Penix, Chasitie Penix, Jacob Hilton and Nicole Hilton; three great-grandchildren, Ashlynn Peterson, Leeland Burton and “Little” Josh Burton; her siblings, Pam Smith, Patricia Hyatt, Joe Floyd, Michelle Greenway and Travis Hurley; also several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services for Debbie will be conducted at 7:00 PM Wednesday, July 27, 2016 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with the Rev. Steve Waycaster officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until the service hour. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 28, 2016 in the Happy Valley Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. For those attending the graveside service you are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 AM.
