Mr. Delano Clay Bare, age 80, of Nashville, TN formerly of Elizabethton, TN passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015 in the V.A. Hospital, Nashville. He was born in Ashe County, NC and was the son of Myrtle Phillips Bare, Johnson City, TN and the late Arvel Glenn Bare. Mr. Bare retired from the U.S. Army after twenty years of service and then worked as a mechanic with Forbes Service Station in Elizabethton for many years. He was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church, Elizabethton. Mr. Bare loved hunting and fishing and was an avid Elizabethton High School football and Elizabethton Twins baseball fan.

Survivors in addition to his mother, include his wife of fifty-one years, Christa Gritl Bare, Nashville, TN; a daughter, Joanne Tindall and her husband Billy, Nashville, TN; two sons, Clay Christian Bare and his wife Helen, Houston, TX and Stephen Glenn Bare and his wife Julie, Porterdale, GA; nine grandchildren and a sister, Carol Hayes and husband Steve, Johnson City, TN. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

A service to honor the life of Mr. Delano Clay Bare will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Monday, October 12, 2015 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Bruce Hendrix and Rev. Bob Polk officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. on Monday prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow the funeral service in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard.
