Dorothy M. Fair, 79, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, February 17, 2014, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital, following an extended illness.
Dorothy was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Solomon and Julie Owens Potter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W.W. Fair, November 26, 1998, and two sons, Jack and Terry Fair.
Mrs. Fair was a homemaker. She was a member of West Side Christian Church. She loved camping.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Palmer of Florida and Deborah Warren of Michigan; two sons, Jerry Fair and wife Kim of Michigan and Mike Fair and wife Sue of Roan Mountain; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a special friend, Barbara McNeal, whom she loved very much and made her home with; and her little dog, Daisy. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mrs. Fair will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, February 20, in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, with Mr. Greg Key, minister, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Charlotte Smith. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service, or at the home of a son, Mike Fair, 110 Smith Road, Roan Mountain, at anytime. The graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, February 21, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Keith Fair, Allen Fair, Lonnie Turner, Michael Blair and Richard Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Robert Walter and the staff of Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:50 p.m. Friday.
