Dorothy Lee Hardin Joines, 92, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Daniel F. and Rosa Hardin.
Mrs. Joines was a 1940 graduate of Hampton High School. She had worked at Beaunit Fibers, the 3rd unit, and North American Rayon Corporation for 43 years. She was a member of Siam Baptist Church but had attended First Free Will Baptist Church, Elizabethton, for several years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Belva A. Joines Jr., February 5, 1981; two sisters, Myrtle Church and Montie Logan; and nine brothers, Arthur, Roosevelt, Taft, Roy, Logan, Robert, Stanley, Virgil and Martin Hardin.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Pete Johnson, Elizabethton; a granddaughter, Shannon Rowe and husband Dwain, Elizabethton; two step-great-grandchildren, John Rowe and wife Kristy and Andy Rowe and wife Kody; two step-great-great-grandchildren, Brennen Rowe and Emmalynn Rowe; several nieces and nephews; and her feline companion for several years, Sampson.
Funeral services for Mrs. Joines will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Nathan Jennings officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Jack Lloyd officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the doctors and nurses of the second floor at Sycamore Shoals Hospital, Dr. Jurdi, Dr. Diaz, her caregiver, Tracy Nelson, and the staffs of Hermitage Health Care and Hillview Home Health.
