Edith Jeanette Crowder Shipley, 91, Blountville, went home to be with her Lord, Friday, April 4, 2014, in the Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Washington County, she was a daughter of the late Grady and Fannie Crowder. Mrs. Shipley was retired from Beechem Laboratory, Bristol. She was a member of Elizabeth Chapel United Methodist Church, Blountville, where she sang in the Choir and was active in her church circle.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include a daughter: Gloria Ellis, her husband, Powell, and their children, Melissa Hodge and husband, Russell, and David Ellis and his wife, Rhonda; Two Sons: Tony Shipley and wife, Lynda, and their children: Blake Shipley and wife, Cathy, and Robyn Block and husband, Todd, Randy Shipley and wife, Sharon, and their children: Justin Shipley and wife, Sabrina, and Jason Shipley and wife, Emma; Four Great Grandchildren: Wyatt, Allie, Michael and Emily; One Great Great Granddaughter: Madison; Four Sisters: Ida Thatch, Isabelle Bowers, Mary Lyons and Geneva Curde; One Brother: Sam Crowder; Several nieces & nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2014, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tom Reed officiating.
Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of Peace, Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Patty Hodge. Active Pallbearers will be grandsons: David Ellis, Justin Shipley, Jason Shipley, Blake Shipley, Todd Block, Russell Hodge and Michael Hodge.
The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Dr. Frank Johnson, Dr. Randy Hoover and the staff of the 5400 wing, Johnson City Medical Center.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence of a granddaughter, Melissa Hodge and her husband, Russell, at 485 Minton Hollow Road, Elizabethton.
