Esther Ellen Guinn Estep, age 93, of Hampton, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at her residence, following an extended illness. Esther was born in Virginia, a daughter of the late Herbert Arthur Guinn and May Wilson Guinn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Estep, Sr. in 2003; three grandsons, John Elliott, Gary Elliott, and Timothy White; four brothers; and four sisters.

Esther retired from the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center, where she had worked as a nurse’s aide. She was a United States Navy veteran, having served proudly in World War II and was a member of Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish her memory include four daughters, Barbara Elliott, of Elizabethton, Sherry Estep, of Hampton, Elizabeth Ann Baldwin and husband David, of Spring Lake, NC, and Patricia Mathews and husband J.R., of Bluff City, TN; three sons, Warren Estep, Jr. and wife Joyce, of Hampton, Billy Estep and wife Vivian, of Abingdon, VA, and Jonathan Estep and wife Susan, of Elizabethton; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A graveside service to honor and celebrate the life of Mrs. Esther Ellen Guinn Estep will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 18, 2015 at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Karl Gasser, officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Esther’s friends and neighbors, the staff and doctors of Amedysis Hospice and the doctors and nurses at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 AM on Friday.

A visitation service will be conducted from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Thursday, September 17, 2015 in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. Friends may call at the residence at any time.
