Date of Service: April 29, 2023

Interment Location:  Southview Section

Evelyn Pauline Holland, 82, Johnson City went home to be with her Lord, Sunday, April 23, 2023 at the Agape Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Johnson City. She was preceded in death by her parents: Clyde & Mabel Byers Peters and three brothers: Earl Peters, Freddie Peters, and Bobby Peters. Pauline was always the happiest when she was serving others, making it a priority to open her home to others – making people feel special, whether it was preparing a meal for her family, church or anyone she felt could use encouragement. She was a faithful and devoted member of King Springs Baptist Church who worked tirelessly to ensure the church was cleaned and decorated for every season and occasion. She was the “life of the party” and was a joy to others with her quick wit and humor that guaranteed no one would leave her presence without a laugh and a smile on their face. Other than accepting Christ as her personal Savior, Pauline’s greatest joy was the day she became a grandmother to Audrey. Nothing brought her greater joy than being in attendance for every event in Audrey’s life.

Survivors include her husband of sixty years: Lynn Holland. Her Sons and their spouses: Gordon and Tawana Holland and Rick and Tammy Holland. Granddaughter: Audrey Holland. Siblings and their spouses: Jean Rash, Donnie and Brenda Peters and Virginia and Lewis Hulse. Sisters-In-Law: Brenda Gregg Peters and Sarah Peters Sutphin. Brother-In-Law: Tom Holland. Pauline had a special love for her nieces and nephews, as well as, their children. Her special friends: Naomi Workman, Edna Harrell, Jean Tipton, Tanya Rhea, Doug and Delores Hammitt and Pastor Bobby and Janice Stout.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2023 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Greg Ruston and Pastor Mark Fowler officiating. Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park following the service. Music will be provided by the Slagle Family. Active Pallbearers will be: Eddie Peters, Chris Mathes, Richard Workman, Gaige Slagle, Lewis Hulse, Wesley Peters and Bobby Bennett. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Deacons and members of King Springs Baptist Church, Pastor Luka Tamaj, Willie Mathes, Jackie Mathes, Ronnie Slagle and David Peters. The family would like to express their gratitude to all who worked diligently around the bedside to meet Pauline’s every need, including the loving staff of Agape Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Princeton Transitional Care, Ballad Health’s Wound Care Team, and the nurses of Johnson City Medical Center and Franklin Woods Hospitals. They would also like to recognize State of Franklin Healthcare Associates for providing remarkable care and support during Pauline’s illness, especially Dr. James Hansen, Dr. Dawn Nuckolls, Dr. Sulleman Malik, Ms. Kimberly Jackson and Mikella Maine, NP. They will always be appreciative to Amedisys Hospice Nurses, Chaplains, and Social Workers who worked to make her last days so joyful. Finally, they would like to extend their gratitude to the surgical team that used their skills and expertise which allowed Pauline to spend more time with her family, Dr. Kenneth Cutshall, Dr. John (Trey) Robertson, Dr. Amanda Grigoli, and the ETSU General Surgery Residents. The family will receive friends from1 to 2 p.m. Saturday prior to the service. Condolences may be sent to the family at our web-site www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
