Floyd Hershel Buchanan, 91 Johnson City, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at the Waters of Johnson City. A native of Buleadean, North Carolina, he was a son of the late Clyde & Helena Gouge Buchanan. He was Manager of Park Belks for 46 years. Mr. Buchanan was a founding member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife of 71 years: Geraldine Archer Buchanan.
Survivors include his children: Shelby Jean (Blaine) Shoun, Sharon McKenzie, Whitney Bowling and Susie (Jim) Muller. Two Grandchildren: Corey (Keisha) and Jeremiah (Heidi) Shoun. Three Great Grandchildren: Darcie Dosher, Lyla Shoun and Cora Shoun. A Sister: Myrtle Buchanan, Several nieces & nephews.
Graveside Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 13, 2019 in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Walker Roberson officiating. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Sunday will be: Hershel Bennett, Corey Shoun, Jeremiah Shoun, Blaine Shoun, Tim Archer, Chris Bowling and Nick Powers. Honorary Pallbearers will be his church family. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Sunday.
