Franklin H. “Bo” Mullins, age 81, of Elizabethton, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital, due to complications from dementia. “Bo” was born in Davy, West Virginia, a son of the late Everett and Mary Jane McCormick Mullins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, Harold, Everett Jr., Homer, Karl, William, Daniel and James Mullins; one sister, Helen Vass; and one beloved grandson, Daniel Gregory Mullins.

Mr. Mullins retired from Geico’s Home Office in Washington, D.C., where he worked as a computer specialist. He was a United States Marine Corp veteran and enjoyed gardening and watching old westerns.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 54 years, Della M. Lipps Mullins, of the home; two sons, Steve Mullins and wife Lisa, of Winchester, VA, and Greg Mullins and wife Jennifer, of Elizabethton; one daughter, Angela Mullins and her boyfriend, Matthew Miller, of Elizabethton; six grandsons, Keith Mullins, Cody Mullins and wife Trisha, Tyler Mullins, Spencer Mullins, Jonathan Mullins, and Jacob Mullins; three granddaughters, Amanda Woodby and husband Adam, Danielle Mullins, and Kristyn Mullins; one great grandson, Noah Mullins; two great granddaughters, McKenna and Harper Woodby; one brother, Robert Mullins, Daniels, WV; and three sisters, Ann Rayle, of NC, Juanita Sims, of FL, and Alice Sally Crabtree, of WV.

A graveside service to honor and celebrate the life of Mr. Franklin H. “Bo” Mullins will be conducted at 12:30 PM on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Happy Valley Memorial Park, with Rev. Kenneth Grindstaff, officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Wendall Williams, Kenneth Grindstaff, Luther Grindstaff, the hospice workers of Mountain States Health Alliance, and all the nurses on the 3rd floor of Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton at 11:45 AM on Saturday, to go in procession.

Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, may make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, 207 Boone Street, Johnson City, TN 37601; to Mountain States Health Alliance Hospice, 2335 Knob Creek Road, Suite 101, Johnson City, TN 37604; or to the charity or church of your choice, in honor of Franklin “Bo” Mullins.
