Guthrie John Palmer, III, age 75, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, in Sebring, FL. He was born on April 15, 1941 in Pulaski, VA to the late Guthrie Johnson and Stella (Hylton) Palmer, II. John had been a resident of Avon Park, FL since 2008, having moved from Pulaski. He served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam and later worked in retail management. He attended Pulaski County, VA Schools and was a graduate of National Business College in Roanoke, VA. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Avon Park and a former member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Johnson City, TN. In recent years John served as President of his Condo Association, on the Board of Directors for the Homeowners Association, and as a volunteer at Florida Hospital. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son; his first wife, Nadine N. Palmer; a brother, James Randall Palmer; and a son-in-law, Joe D. Craddock. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca S. Palmer; children, Teresa P. Craddock and Rebecca J. Palmer, both of Johnson City, TN; step-children, Susan-Kelly F. McKenna of Greensboro, NC and Douglas C. Farmer of Liberty, TN; brother, Robert W. Palmer (Faye) of Midlothian, VA; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at the First United Methodist Church, Avon Park, FL, on Sunday, June 26th, with visitation at 2:00 followed by a memorial service at 2:30.
