George Warren Susong, Jr, beloved father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend passed from this life into the next on Wednesday, April 8, 2020.
George “Baby Brother”, as he was called, was the eighth child born to Warren and Nancy Susong on February 10, 1947. He was preceded in death by his parents, eight siblings, a daughter in law, and a grandson, Aaron “Dee” Delaney. He attended Douglas High School until it was closed. He graduated from Elizabethton High School in 1967.
George moved to Denver, Co and lived there for several years. While in Denver he worked as a machinist in the airline industry. He was injured then returned to Elizabethton to live until 2002. He then moved to Oklahoma City, Ok, where he remained until his death.
George was a gentle and happy person. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, and going to the casino! You could always find him in a brim hat sharing a good laugh.
George leaves to cherish his memory, two children, Aaron N. DeLaney, Johnson City, TN, and Cynthia Butts (Pleas), Dallas, GA; six grandchildren, Jairus T. Senior, Arionna B. DeLaney , Aspen L. DeLaney , Avangeline R. DeLaney, Darien Adams and Pleas Butts IV; Two great grandchildren; Aaliyah R. DeLaney and Zyla Adams-Brown; two siblings; Virginia Jo Susong Pearson, Denver, CO and Gwendolyn Susong Greaves, Oklahoma City, Ok; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He will be greatly missed.
A private graveside service will be held at Happy Valley Memorial Park, Elizabethton, TN.
