Geraldine Edwards Floyd, age 81, of Piney Flats, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at NHC Healthcare of Johnson City. Geraldine was born in Carter County, Tennessee to the late Willard “W.O.” and Mary Ethel Tilson Edwards. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Floyd, Sr.; two daughters, Debbie Hilton and Wanda Tate; a granddaughter, Tabitha Tate; five brothers, Willard Edwards, Jr., Jasper Edwards, James Edwards, Eugene Edwards and Roy Edwards; and six sisters, Pearl Willis, Carrie Hicks, Marie Guinn, Ruby Dykes, Bernice Cole and Georgia Lowe.

Geraldine attended Midway School, where she played basketball and was a seamstress by trade, having worked for over 46 years at Steinway/Artcraft Glove Company and then Denise Lingerie Company. She attended Piney Flats Free Will Baptist Church for as long as she was physically able to do so.

Those left to cherish her memory include three children, Pam Smith and husband Ray, of Gray, TN, Patricia Hyatt, of Piney Flats, TN and Billy Joe Floyd, Jr., of Piney Flats, TN; eleven grandchildren, Tammera Penix, Shannon Hilton, Rachel Tackett, Courtney Shipley, Amanda Clark, Brandon Ford, Jennifer Tate, Heather Choice, Reva Tate, Ferrah Floyd and James Floyd; and one brother, Bob Edwards, of Jonesborough, TN. Twenty-five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren also survive as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate the life of Geraldine Edwards Floyd will be conducted at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Tetrick Funeral Home, Bluff City Chapel with Pastor Steve Waycaster, officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM prior to the funeral service or at the residence at other times.

The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Happy Valley Memorial Park with her brother, Bob Edwards providing a eulogy. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 12:50 PM on Wednesday for the graveside service.

We would like to express our appreciation to the nurses and staff at NHC Healthcare and Caris Hospice in Johnson City for their care of and comfort to our Mother during her illness. Also, a special thank you to all who visited, called, sent a card and prayed for her and our family.
