Gladys Jean Humphrey, age 76, of Watauga, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Holston, VA, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Vertie Harmon Nunley and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, William Bill Nunley, James “Bunny” Nunley, Jerry Nunley, Jack Farmer; and one sister, Shirley Baird.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-eight years, Leo Humphrey, of the home; two sons, Leon Humphrey, Sr. and wife, Bernadette; Jeff Humphrey and wife, Hildred, all of Watauga; two daughters, Judy Livingston and husband, George; Lisa Williams and husband, Mark, all of Watauga; three sisters, Nola Gay Trivette, Chattanooga, TN; Mary Jane Hart, Jonesborough, TN; and Ann Trivette, Elk Park, NC; three grandchildren, Ginny Andes and husband, Nick, Elizabethton; Leon Humphrey, Jr. and Ashley Williams, both of Watauga; one great grandson, Jacob “JC” Andes, Elizabethton.

A service to honor the life of Gladys Jean Humphrey will be conducted at 8:00 PM, Wednesday, April 29, 2015 in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Dr. James Richardson and Pastor Roy Yelton, officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Wednesday prior to the funeral service in the chapel and other times at the residence.

The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 30th at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Everyone will meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton at 10:15 AM on Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
