Mr. Harry Moore Jr., age 95, of Elizabethton, TN passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Gardners, VA he was the son of the late Harry Moore Sr. and Dora Ella Hale Moore. Mr. Moore had been a guidance counselor at Lamar High School and David Crockett High School. He served as a Baptist minister for more than fifty years and had formerly pastored at Skyland Heights Baptist Church, Little Mountain Baptist Church and Poplar Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Moore was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II. He loved reading his Bible and playing golf.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Moore; a sister, Elizabeth Oats and two brothers, Bill Moore and Bob Moore. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of seventeen years, Virginia Moore, of the home; a son, John Moore and his wife Joella, Elizabethton, TN; a special granddaughter, McKinley Moore, Elizabethton; special nephews, Rick Moore, Jerry Moore and Bob Moore Jr. and special nieces, Debbie and Betty Ann.

A service to honor the life of Mr. Harry Moore Jr. will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 10, 2016 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Ron Owens and Rev. Ken Kyker officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. on Sunday prior to the service or at the residence at any time. Committal and entombment will follow the funeral service on Sunday in Happy Valley Memorial Park, Mausoleum of Peace. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the doctors and nurses of Sycamore Shoals Hospital and to the staff of Life Care Center of Elizabethton.
