Mrs. Helen Jenkins Whisner, 706 Poplar Street, Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord, Sunday, January 4, 2015, in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
Helen was born August 24, 1929, in Appalachia, Virginia, and had lived most of her life in Carter County. She was employed before retirement in the Housekeeping Department at Johnson City Memorial Hospital. She also worked for some time at Hillview Health Center. Helen was a member of the Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands: Eugene Ward and Hubert Whisner; and a sister: Elsie Guy.
Helen is survived by special friends: Bill Barnett and family, Larry McKinney and family, Bob & Debbie Grindstaff, Mike & Carolyn Matthews and members of the First Church of God.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2015, in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Bob Shupe officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be friends.
The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Hermitage Health Center for the excellent care she received.
Friends may register their presence at the funeral home anytime after 1 p.m. Tuesday. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetery.
