Howard B. Buck, 88, Elizabethton, who would have been 89 on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017 in the Hermitage Health Center. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Earnest & Olive Johnson Buck. Howard was a graduate of Cloudland High School. He was retired from North American Rayon Corporation after 35 years of service. He was also a Carpenter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Hazel Strickland Buck, a son: Benny Buck and a sister: Dora Shell. He was a member of the Carter County Hunting & Fishing Association. He was of the Free Will Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his daughter: Lucy Smith, Elizabethton. His Grandson: Nicholas Buck and David Smith, both of Elizabethton. His Great Grandsons: Cameron & Mason Buck. His Sister: Billie Grindstaff, Elizabethton. Several nieces & nephews including a special niece & nephew: Bobbie & Larry Shell. His good friend: James “Speck” Smith. His dog, Brutus.
Graveside Service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, September 23, 2017 in Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. John McCurry officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 2:50 p.m. Saturday. Friends may visit with the family at his residence.
