Ida Mae Carr

Ida Mae Carr, age 59, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at the Holston Valley Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bynom and Joyce Taylor Whitehead; her son, Christopher Carr; and her grandparents, John and Bessie Whitehead, of Dennis Cove.

She loved spending time with her husband walking on the beach and on various excursions.

She is survived by her loving husband of forty-two years, Terry L. Carr, of Elizabethton; her children, Tasha Sparks and husband Brian, of Jeffersonville, IN, Joseph Carr and wife Lindsey, of Smyrna, TN and Matthew Carr, of Greeneville, TN; a grandson, Joshua Carr, of Jeffersonville, IN; five really special grand dogs; two brothers, Bynom Whitehead, Jr., of Elizabethton and James Whitehead and wife Kristine, of Elizabethton; and a sister, Loretta, of Piney Flats, TN.

A service to celebrate the life of Ida Mae Carr will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Friday, May 8, 2020 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Pastor Glen Layfield, officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM in the chapel, prior to the service on Friday.

A private graveside service will be conducted at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Joshua Carr, Brian Sparks, Dennis Stout, Kyle Birchfield and Steven Norris.

Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, may make donations to St. Jude’s Cancer Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, in honor of Ida.
