J.B. Hardin, 81, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
A native of Erwin, Tenn., he was a son of the late Clyde and Maude Brackens Hardin. He had lived a number of years in Elizabethton. Mr. Hardin served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.
He was a retired truck driver with American Water Heater. He attended East River Park Christian Church. His hobbies were working on old cars and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Shirley Ann Smith Hardin who died August 4, 2000.
Survivors include a son & daughter-in-law: Shirll Jay & Jennifer Hardin, Elizabethton. A step-grandson: Jordan Simerly. Two Sisters: Betty Bennett, Erwin and Lois Peterson, Baltimore, Maryland. Three Brothers: Fred & Glen Hardin both of Erwin and Warren Hardin, Flag Pond. Several nieces & nephews.
Graveside Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014 in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Barry Pettit, Minister officiating. Burial will follow the service. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday will be: Gary Bennett, David Bennett, Fred Hardin, Chris Click, Donovan Sturgill and Craig Ingram.
The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Judy Deloach and the Staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home.
Friends may also visit with the family and the residence of his son. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday to go to the cemetery. Condolences may be e-mailed to mfc@chartertn.net.
