J.N. Buckles, age 94, of Johnson City, Tennessee went home to be the Lord on Thursday, October 24, 2019 from Agape Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. J.N. was born in Carter County, Tennessee to the late Alfred and Abbygail Nave Buckles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Lee Nave Buckles; his brothers, Harry Buckles, Eston Buckles, Tommy Buckles and Brown Buckles; and his sisters, Vera Buckles, Ella Buckles and Kate Buckles Williams.

J.N. retired as a Lieutenant with the Tennessee State Police, following 33 years of service. He was a private man and very dedicated to Public Service. J.N. was of the Baptist faith and was a United States Marine veteran, having served during World War II. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Johnson City Masonic Lodge No. 486. J.N. was a member of York Rite of Johnson City and of the Scottish Rite, of Knoxville and was a founding member of Jericho Shrine, member of National Troopers Association and a member of Tennessee Retired Officers Association. He also enjoyed watching U.T. games and growing up on the family farm.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Gail Buckles, of Elizabethton, TN and Debbie Harrison (Steve Eischen- fiancé), of Johnson City, TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A service to honor the life of J.N. Buckles will be conducted at 7:00 Pm on Saturday, October 26, 2019 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Dr. William Duncan, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Saturday or at the residence of either daughter, at other times. Masonic Rites will be accorded after the service. The Tennessee Honor Guard will assist in the service.

The graveside service will be conducted at 3:30 PM on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be his special friend, Steve Eischen, David Carter, Pat Story, and others selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home at 2:45 PM on Sunday, to go in procession.
