Jackie “Jack” Thomas Oliver, age 72, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 from his residence. Jack was born in Carter County to the late Howard and Beatrice Smith Oliver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Mark Oliver and Jackie Oliver; and a sister, Billy June Roark.

Jack was a strong, independent and hardworking man, who was also stubborn but always willing to help others and was always there for his family. He had worked at North American Rayon and also as a mechanic at Fred’s BP Station. Jack was a member of East Side Free Will Baptist Church and he enjoyed watching movies, westerns and football.

Those left to cherish his wonderful memories include his loving and devoted wife of 19 years, Brenda Coleman Oliver, of the home; three sons, Anthony Oliver, Lawrence Oliver and wife Lisa, and Russell Oliver, all of Elizabethton; a brother, Rick Oliver, of Elizabethton; two sisters, Shelby Calhoun and husband Dale, and Beatrice Snider and husband Dave, all of Elizabethton; four grandsons, Austin Boyd, Russ Boyd, Josh Oliver and Ronnie Carr, all of Elizabethton; and one granddaughter, Aleignia Oliver, of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephew also survive.

A service to celebrate the life of Jackie “Jack” Thomas Oliver will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 1, 2019 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Pastor David Finney and Pastor Greg Ruston, officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Sunday.

The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

The family would like to especially thank the doctors and staff of Sycamore Shoals Hospital and the staff of Amedisys Hospice for their support and care. As well as his caregiver, Christine Largent.
