Mr. James E. Archer, Jr., 79, went home to be with his Lord and Savior June 3, 2015. Jim had suffered with Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s for more than eight years.

He was born to Earl and Ollie Archer in Johnson City, September 27, 1935.

Jim devoted 53 years of his life to the ministry and pastorate in several area churches. He was a member of Boone Trail Baptist at the time of his death.
To prepare for his pastorate he studied at ETSU, Carson Newman and Southeast Seminary.

In the early 70’s Jim was listed in Who’s Who of Bye-Vocational ministry for outstanding work as a young minister of Tennessee.
Preceded in death were his parents and a sister Doris Woods.

Survivors include: his wife of 57 years, (would be 58 June 23) Arlane Pearson Archer, daughter, Debbie Clabough and husband Todd; son, Tim Archer; grandchildren, Taylor and Cameron Clabough; and Hayley Rideout; soon to be great grandson Cayden Clabough, sister, Geraldine Buchanan and husband Hershel; several nieces.

The family of Mr. James E. Archer, Jr. will receive friends from 4 to 6 PM Saturday, June 6, 2015, in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 6 PM with officiating. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 3 PM Sunday, in the Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home by 2:15 PM Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery.
