James Millard “J.M.” Peters, 80, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday June 11, 2017 in the Pine Ridge Care Center after a brief illness.  A native of Carter County, he was a son  of the late Stacy & Martha Elizabeth Taylor Peters.  J.M. was retired from Inland Container after 37 years of service.  He loved to hunt fish & work in his garden.  He was a member of Moore’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister and a daughter: Debbie Kaye Peters Ensor.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years: Patsy Burrow Peters.  A son: James L. “Jamie” Peters, Elizabethton.  A Grandson: Ryan Lee Peters, A Granddaughter: Savannah Gobble and a Great Grandson: J.B. Highsmith ,daughter-in-law: Lena M. Peters all of Hampton.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Clarence Phillips and Rev. Bobby Burrow officiating.  Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 15, 2017 in Happy Valley Memorial Park.  Music will be provided by Moore’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.  Active Pallbearers will be Nephews. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Terry Burrow, Roger Burrow, Lawrence Hodge, his church family and friends from the Breakfast Club at Burger Hut.  The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.  Friends may also visit with the family at his residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Thursday to go to the cemetery.  Condolences may be sent to the family at our web-site www.memorialfelizabethton.com.
