Reverend James W. Lindsay, age 87, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at his home. James was born in Columbus, Georgia to the late Clarence Adams Lindsay and Martha Louise Mitchell Lindsay.

James graduated from Mercer University where he had played both basketball and baseball and then graduated from Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky where he earned his Masters of Divinity. James had served his Lord in ministry for over 66 years. He had pastored in Greeneville, Tennessee, Nashville, Tennessee, Maryville, Tennessee and Elizabethton, Tennessee and even after his retirement he continued his service as an interim pastor for area churches. James was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church and enjoyed music, sports and sharing his tremendous faith in the Lord.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 64 years, Mary Allen Lindsay, of the home; three daughters, Robyn Wilson and husband Mark, of Kingsport, Laura Norris and husband Mike, of Elizabethton and Sarah Preston and husband Rob, of Athens, TN; and three grandchildren, Chris Wilson and wife Melissa, of Vancouver, British Columbia, Beth Hobbs and husband Chris, of Candler, NC and Lindsay Williams and husband Gabe, of Erwin, TN; and two great grandchildren, Callaway Williams and Nolan Wilson.

A service to celebrate and honor the life of Reverend James W. Lindsay will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 1, 2019 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Reverend Garry Edwards and Reverend William Swafford, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Gary Rice and Tom Michael. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Monday.

The committal and entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
