Jesse Benjamin Blythe, Jr., age 81, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 8, 2016 from the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Jesse was a native of Carter County and was the son of the late J.B. Blythe and Edna Whaley Blythe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Rev. Jesse “Jay” Blythe, III and Thomas Christopher Blythe; and a grandson, Jesse Benjamin Blythe, IV.

Jesse had been employed as a Corporate Executive for Westinghouse. He was a United States Navy Veteran, having served in the Korean War and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, farming and woodworking.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 60 years, Ramona Sue Price Blythe, of the home; a son, David Lynn Blythe and wife Lori, of PA; two daughters, Susan Blythe Scheestel and husband Mark, of PA and Karen Blythe Snyder, of Elizabethton; nine grandchildren, Stacy Waugh, Rachel Riley, Tommy Blythe, Nathan Snyder, Seth Snyder, Lydia Snyder, Ryan Scheestel, Stephanie Scheestel, and Sarah Davis; seven great grandchildren, Lauren Davis, Gillian Davis, Kendal Davis, Rowdy Davis, Wyatt Blythe, Josephine Riley, and Sadie Snyder; two sisters, Earlene Brewer, of Dallas, TX and Jean Land, of Dunlap, TN; and one grandson-in-law, Joe Davis.

A service to honor the life of Mr. Jesse Benjamin Blythe, Jr. will be conducted at 12:30 PM on Monday, January 11, 2016 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Elizabethton with Pastor Travis Biller, officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday, January 10, 2016 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services.

The graveside and interment will follow the funeral service on Monday, January 11, 2016 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Jesse’s grandsons and great grandsons, and his nephews, Mike Land and Stanley Brewer. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Price, Larry Price and Jerry Price.

Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, may make donations to the Missions Fund at Immanuel Baptist Church, 205 Hunter Avenue, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
