Joe Robertson, age 67, of Watauga, joined his loved ones in Heaven on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 from his residence, following an extended illness. Joe was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico to the late Willis and Mabel Stallings Robertson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Shane Robertson; a grandson, Steven Robertson; and a brother, Dale Robertson.

Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and was of the Baptist faith. He had worked and retired as an Ironworker, where he had been a member of the Union for over 45 years. Joe loved an early morning round of golf, a full day of work, cooking out, playing guitar and singing. Joe also cherished time spent playing and making memories with his grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife of 32 years, Carla Robertson, of the home; his children, Steven Robertson and wife Cherry, of Whitney, TX, Joseph W. Robertson and wife Sandy, also of Whitney, TX, Jennifer Whitney and wife Audra, of Maui, HI, Mark Whitney, of Maryville, TN, Glenna Whitney and husband Marc, of Johnson City, and Tiffany Robertson and Billy, of Watauga; his grandchildren, Jacey Robertson, Hannah Robertson, Madison Brigman, Makayla Whitney, Damon Rhea, Audrey Whitney, Alex Dugger, Jarred Dugger, Savannah Dugger, Mark Whitney, Evelyn Whitney, Chloe Robertson and Hunter Robertson; several great grandchildren; and one brother, Bill Robertson, of Canyon Lake, TX. Also a special niece, Stacy Childers and James, of Leonard, TX.

A service to honor and celebrate the life of Joe Robertson will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 8, 2019 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Saturday or at the residence at any time.

The committal and entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Faith at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Joe Robertson, Steven Robertson, Mark Whitney, Marc Rhea, Walter Watson and James Kennedy. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Cravens and Lee Childers.

The family would like to especially thank Jennifer Spodat, Kristi Reese and his Amedysis Hospice Nurse, Wilma, for the exceptional love and care given to Joe during his illness.
